Festival of Ideas
Every year Cambridge University runs the wonderful and much loved Festival of Ideas, a week of free workshops, performances, debates and more, exploring big ideas in the arts, humanities, and social sciences. Run by academics, politicians, researchers and artists, each year follows a different theme., ‘Dreams and Nightmares’, or ‘Communication, Freedom and Revolution’. For the last two years CCI has been invited to run a workshop at the Faculty of Education, in their unique and fabulous building. Located in, and drawing inspiration from ‘The Street’ an enormously vaulted and spacious main space that connects the entire building, we have invited the general public to come and explore all sorts of ideas with us, creating, making and drawing structures and images – big, small, personal, and epic. I worked alongside CCI artist Debbie Hall in 2011, and CCI artist Caroline Wendling in 2012.
