Thresholds
Thresholds was newly created in the winter/spring of 2013. A poetry project supported by the University of Cambridge and the Arts Council in the Cambridge Museums and Collections. Ten acclaimed UK poets took up residencies across the museums and collections. The marvellous and utterly sparkling and vital Jackie Kay chose Kettle’s Yard. She ran two days of workshops for a small group of young adults to create poems inspired by their time in the house, engaged in writing tasks. I then worked with the same young people over four afternoon sessions to transform their poems into works of art and installations that were placed back into the rooms that first inspired them.
The project culminated with an evenings performance at Kettles Yard where some of the participants read their poems, after a delicious poetry reading by Jackie herself, to a very select audience of families and special friends.
